⚠️ Pros & Considerations
Pros:
-
Large capacity: 16TB is ample for backups, media libraries, or offloading large files.
-
Cross-platform support (Windows & Mac) thanks to exFAT formatting by default.
-
Includes data recovery (“Rescue”) service, which can be useful if things go wrong.
-
Comes with the required power adapter; good for desktop usage.
Things to watch out for:
-
Since it’s a mechanical HDD, speed (especially write/read) will be much slower than SSDs, especially for a lot of small files.
-
Power requirement (needs AC adapter) means it’s less portable and more bulky.
-
USB Micro-B connector can be less durable / more bulky than USB-C.
-
Noise, heat, and vibration might be more noticeable with such large mechanical drive; good ventilation helps.
