Description
✅ What we know
-
The UD100 line from Acer is a desktop RAM (DDR4) family. It has modules in various capacities:8GB,16GB GB.
-
Speeds in this series run from 2400 MHz → 3200 MHz depending on model.
-
The 3200 MHz variant often appears with CL22 timings and runs at standard DDR4 voltage (1.2 V).
-
A known issue: even if the RAM is rated for 3200 MHz, many users report their systems only run at lower speeds (2666-MHz etc.), because either the motherboard/CPU doesn’t support higher, or BIOS doesn’t allow enabling XMP/overclocking.
⚠️ Things to check before buying
To make sure you get the 3200 MHz speed in practice, check:
-
Motherboard + CPU support
Make sure your motherboard and processor officially support DDR4-3200. If they max out at lower speeds, the RAM will downclock to the maximum supported speed.
-
BIOS / XMP/DOCP settings
You might need to enable XMP (Intel) or DOCP (AMD) or equivalent in BIOS to get full speed. If the BIOS is locked or limited by the OEM (sometimes with prebuilt PCs), you may be stuck at base speeds.
-
Number of modules / channels
Dual-channel configuration gives better performance. If mixing different speeds or capacities, the system tends to run at the slowest module’s speed.
-
Timings / latency
CL22 is a bit loose compared to very tight RAMs, but for many uses it’s OK. Just be aware lower CL (e.g. CL16) tends to perform better in some workloads/gaming.
